1510.010.00 Assistance Grouping
In determining the members of an assistance case, use the following guidelines:
- Do not include persons who have been determined eligible for Temporary Assistance or Medicaid/MC+ in the Refugee Assistance budget.
- If some members of a refugee household do not wish to apply for refugee assistance while other members wish to apply, do not include those who do not wish to apply in determining the other persons' eligibility for, or amount of, assistance, with the following exceptions:
- The parents of children under age 21 must be included if assistance for these children is requested unless the parent is an SSI recipient;
- A person's spouse must be included unless the spouse is an SSI recipient; and
- Brothers and sisters of the dependent child must be included in accordance with Temporary Assistance assistance grouping requirements.
EXAMPLE: Mr. and Mrs. X and their three children live with Mrs. X's mother and none of the family meets the requirements for TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE or MA, but do meet the refugee requirements. There is only one case record for the entire family.
