Medical Reviews

Child abuse investigative and prosecutorial teams need expert medical opinions or reviews on complex cases of physical and sexual abuse. They may contact STAT and request specialized medical review.

Dr. Beal, a forensic pediatrician who is in private practice in Columbia, Missouri, is currently STAT’s medical consultant. Dr. Beal has testified as an expert witness on many child abuse issues in many Missouri criminal court cases and has over 33 years of experience as a practicing pediatrician.

When the request for medical review is made through STAT, the Field Investigations Manager will triage the request and if appropriate, assign Dr. Beal to assist in the investigation.  This request can be made using the Request for Assistance form.
