0735.000.00 MEDICAID ELIGIBILITY FOR SP-ONLY AND SSI-SP RECIPIENTS

All claimants correctly converted to SP-Only or SSI-SP payments are eligible for Title XIX (Medicaid) benefits. Section 208.151 of the revised Statutes of Missouri, 1982 sets forth the legal basis for Title XIX coverage.

0735.005.00 MEDICAID COVERAGE END DATE ON CLOSINGS

IM-119, December 19, 1996

Medicaid coverage is not date-specific on SP-Only or SSI-SP cases. When an SP-Only or SSI-SP case is closed, Medicaid coverage continues through the last day of the month of the closing.

Medicaid coverage is date-specific for SSI-Only cases (level of T). A date-specific closing can take effect in the future, up to the last day of the month following the month the closing action is entered in the IMU5 system. If the date of ineligibility is in the future, that date must be entered in field 43 of IMU5. If the date of ineligibility entered in field 43 is the current date or earlier, the system will end Medicaid coverage on the date of the closing. If no date is entered in field 43, Medicaid coverage will end on the date of the closing.

0735.010.00 ELIGIBILITY FOR BUY-IN (SMI PREMIUM) FOR MEDICARE

SP-Only, SSI-SP, and SSI-Only recipients are eligible for Buy-In. The State of Missouri pays the costs of the Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Premium if the claimant is eligible for and participating in Part B of Medicare.

NOTE: Enter the correct OASDI claim number in the IMU5 system, when applicable, as this number is required to “buy-in” the recipient.
