INDEPENDENT LIVING WAIVER SERVICES ALLOWED TOWARD spend down |

Effective April 1, 2000, the cost of services
received through the Independent Living Waiver (IL) is an allowable expense
toward meeting spend down. The IL Waiver is a Medicaid waiver that
provides home and community based services for a new group of individuals.
The waiver provides services to disabled individuals age 18 through 64
who would otherwise require care in a nursing facility.
The waiver does not change eligibility criteria for Medical Assistance. Also, there is no change in allowable spend down expenses for individuals awaiting enrollment in the IL waiver. The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) administers the waiver. DVR contracts with Centers for Independent Living (CIL) to provide waiver services. Specifically the waiver provides:
