1130.030.25 Notice of Expiration

IM-#13  February 7, 2002IM-#176  September 26, 2001

A Notice of Expiration (IM-32A) is system generated to all food stamp households in the month prior to the month the certification ends.  The notices are generated twice, first on the 20th of the month and then again on the third to last working day of the month prior to the end of the certification period.  A food stamp application, (FS-1),  is included with the Notice of Expiration.  In order for the system generated notice to be sent, the household must be certified two months or longer and must be certified prior to the last month of certification.

If the household is certified in the last month of certification or the household is certified only one month, the county office notifies the household of the expiration of benefits.  The notification is accomplished by completing the Notice of Expiration section of the IM-112, Action Taken on Your Food Stamp Case, when the household is notified the application for food stamp benefits is approved.

Staff must calculate 17 days from the date of approval for notification to the household.  If the 17th day is a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, use the first working day after the Saturday, Sunday or holiday as the date a timely application must be made.
